The air conditioning can die at any time

I’ve been living in this apartment for the last 9 months. During the wintertime, I used the gas furnace in the apartment and it worked perfectly to keep the place warm. I never had an issue with it. Once the weather started to warm up, I turned on the air conditioning system using the thermostat in the apartment, and also didn’t have any issues with it…until now. It’s currently over 90 degrees outside and the HVAC unit just stopped working. The blower pushes out super warm air. It’s like a fan instead of an A/C and my apartment is super hot. I am literally melting here. So, I turned the entire HVAC system off and waited a couple hours while I went out for groceries. When I got back, I turned the air conditioning system back on and voila! It worked perfectly. So, I thought everything was fine, but then the next day once the temperatures got up into the upper 80s, the air conditioner died again! I waited several hours and turned it back on and it worked just fine; 100% no problems with it for the rest of the day and night. Then of course the next day the same thing happened. It’s almost like a fuse blows when temperatures get over a certain point. Though I know that’s not the issue. I tried calling a few HVAC technicians, but they all think I’m crazy. I am going to have to get to the bottom of this soon; otherwise I’ll have to plan to leave my apartment during the hottest times of the day.
