My colleague and I have been teaching at the same elementary school for years. The two of us started when the two of us had both moved from out of state and have become great friends since. One of our greatest accomplishments was being able to raise enough cash to install a new heating and air conditioner program in the school. The school is really small and is housed a building that was built in the 1960s, for the most part, the school is great, but, the old heating and air conditioner program was terrible. Often times, the air conditioner would blow out dust and luke sizzling air, making the conditions for both the educators and students terrible. The two of us all kept asking for repairs to be done to the AC. An Heating and Air Conditioning team was called out and the two of us were told that the program needed to be upgraded. My coworker and I both knew that school did not have cash for a new Heating and Air Conditioning system, but the two of us also knew the people of the community enjoyed the school. So, the two of us got to work. The two of us spoke with many Heating and Air Conditioning companies and found a supplier that was willing to do the install at a discount since the two of us were at a school. With that information in mind, the two of us had a carnival fundraiser. Setting up the fundraiser for the new heating and air conditioner machine was easy. The whole community pitched in, helping set up games and fun activities for adults and children alike. By the end of the evening, the two of us had surpassed our goal and during the Spring break that year, the new Heating and Air Conditioning program was installed.
