Snow in our driveway and heating it

In the part of America where I live, the amount of snow is a problem.  Every one of us often accumulate various feet of icy snow in a single night.  Our Winter season seasons last for several numerous straight weeks straight, with temperatures falling between frigid as negative ten degrees at times.  Every one of us respectfully experience our first snowfall sometime in late September or early October, as well as the snow usually remains until mid May.  This therefore requires lots of plowing, shoveling as well as spreading snow melting chemicals all over the place. It is costly to buy a plow for the truck or hire someone to  handle the plowing. Shoveling the snow is always back breaking, time-consuming, exhausting, as well as a weekly work. Snow melt chemicals, such as oldschool rock salt, mangle the landscape as well as can get tracked inside as well as mangle the floors. Not to mention, it hurts your animals!  After years of dealing with excessive amounts of snow, my dear partner as well as I invested in a snowmelt system. This was an insanely costly project which required digging up our driveway, walkways as well as the entire concrete floor of the garage. Every one of us were fortunate to already have a boiler properly installed in the home which is powerful enough to handle the additional workload at hand.  A series of pipes were installed as well as then covered with a fresh layer of thick cement. The hydronic heating proposal is setup to automatically activate for us at a certain temperature as well as moisture level. The boiler supplies hot water, which travels immediately through the underground pipes as well as transfers heat to the cement surface. While it was a upscale investment, the snow melt proposal is certainly worthwhile.
