Every single year for Christmas, my wifey and I put out all kinds of twinkling white lights. The charmingly decorated household can be seen all over the city. This year, my wifey and I purchased another 5,000 lights to put on our house. By the time every light was installed on our household, our electric meter was moving rapidly. Both of us had hundreds of strands of lights, along with a yard full of reindeer, elves, and snowmen. I knew both of us would use a ton of electricity, so I decided to adjust our heater… I didn’t want anyone to freeze to death. I just wanted to help defray the cost of all those twinkling lights. I modified the temperature on the heater, by 2°. I assumed my family would not realize the gas furnace was adjusted, however I was definitely wrong! As soon as my wifey woke up, she started to whine about the freezing hot and cold temperatures in our household! She asked if the gas furnace was toiling, and I assured her it definitely was. She decided to check the thermostat herself, and came to find my adjustment to the thermostat. She wanted to know exactly why I adjusted the temperature, in the midst of winter. I explained our electricity usage, and asked if both of us could keep the heat settings lower at least for awhile… Unfortunately, my wifey was not happy with the thermostat settings and made me turn the temperature back to 71 degrees. I don’t mind temperatures a little colder, but she is not thrilled about waking up with freezing feet in the morning hours. She would be glad if the gas furnace thermostat was set to 71 degrees.
