My boyfriend and I decided that we wanted to buy a home of our own. We were both tired of living in apartments, and we knew, pretty much, what we wanted. We had looked through the paper, and found several houses we wanted to see. When we got to the one home, the realtor was atwitter over the heating system. She couldn’t wait to show us the Heat Pump that was used to heat the house. She told us it was extremely energy and heating efficient. I asked if there was paperwork, and she assured us she could get it, but it seemed to be forgotten after the closings were done. Last week, we had to turn on the Heat Pump. I couldn’t believe the noise that it made, and the fact that it was turning on and off constantly. I am a person who likes it cooler, so we have the thermostat set considerably lower that what most people have their thermostat set. I was worried about the Heat Pump so I called the HVAC company and asked if someone could come to check it out. When the HVAC technician arrived, he told us that a Heat Pump works differently than a normal heating system. With a Heat Pump, you needed to turn the thermostat higher. With a lower temperature, it wasn’t able to control the heating, so the cost of turning on and off, was really expensive. We now had to turn the thermostat up and I was uncomfortable. I hate the Heat Pump and I can’t wait until we are able to buy a new heating system and get rid of it.
