A free assessment

I was hired to work on the HIPAA Risk Management Plan for a good sized hospital in a large city in the Northern part of the country. Apparently, my interview was absolutely amazing, and the headhunter for the hospital was impressed my resume.  Otherwise, I don’t know how or why I was hired, because I know nothing about heading up a HIPAA Risk Management Plan. I really, really want this job, and so I’m researching like crazy. I’m hoping to learn everything possible about HIPAA Risk Management before my new boss registers my complete ignorance.   The hospital is a wonderful place to work. There is plenty of free parking, and the cafeteria is modern and enormous. I am tickled that employees get free food and drinks. Plus, the office of the Director of HIPAA Risk Management, which is my office, is super nice. I have an oak desk and an ergonomic chair that swivels.  I also have access to the latest and greatest technology. Now, I need to figure out how to use it to develop a HIPAA risk management system for this hospital! I am not sure if I’m going to be able to pull off all of this HIPAA regulation stuff. I need a good idea of what I’m up against before beginning work on Monday. I plan to spend this weekend cramming my head full of every detail  about HIPAA Risk Management. I’m hoping to keep my job, even though I don’t have a clue what I’m doing at this point! This is a brand new position created at the hospital. I’m thinking there’s a chance that no one will notice if the new Director of HIPAA Risk Management isn’t doing much of anything at all!
