AC and the ductwork

Big decisions always stress me out. I don’t like spending a whole lot of money on something that is not fun. Car repairs, plumbing maintenance or getting a new appliance is always a downer. I also don’t like buying something unless I have prior knowledge on it. My heating and A/C machine recently quit on me. I need to replace it, yet I know nothing about heating and cooling. I think what I had before was a forced air system; do I get that again? I read online all my options in the heating and A/C field and it is overwhelming. I never realized that there were this many types of heating and cooling methods. Just for heating you can have a central furnace powered by electric, oil or gas; you also could do a fireplace instead. There are boiler systems, radiant floors and even heat pump systems that give heating too. Then for a cooling system, you can have central cooling system that uses air ducts. There is also ductless mini splits that can be used in zones. Then you have high velocity A/C that uses air ducts, only it is smaller. It is really intimidating trying to pick the right proposal for my home. I really don’t care; I just want heating and cooling. I don’t care if it uses air duct or not. I don’t care if it is gas, electric or oil… But, I guess that I should research more before I spend a ton of money on something that might not be up to the task. The last thing I want is to get  heating and A/C technology that is wrong for my climate or home.
