I am a product of my times, in that I never go somewhere without my tablet in our hand. However the internet is the umbilical cord that keeps me tethered to society, plus keeps me informed with what is going on the world. Then if I don’t have my tablet right next to me, it’s as though I’m utterly naked; I’m sure most of you reading this would agree. Then well I have been given an up-to-date perspective on things–now I understand that “being connected” isn’t nearly as important as I believed… I came up to our Grandmother’s seasoned beach house to stay for a few days. Now I am trapped, snowed in, with no heater, plus all my tablet can do is let me reach out and whine to my friends about how cold I am. The tablet can’t perform maintenance on the gas heater, the tablet can’t warm me up, right now it can’t do much at all. My first call was to a local central heater and A/C contractor, of course! However, he told me there was a driving ban in effect, so there was nothing he could do. I swear to you I would never own another tablet for the rest of my days if I could just have an operational electric furnace right now. Since that is not an option, I used my tablet to look up alternate means of heating myself and my grandmother up. One of the suggestions was to use the stove as a heating source, plus leave the door to the oven open. That would have worked, except for the heating element in the thing is totally shot!
