I have been renting out my old apartment in town to my buddy Peter for nearly ten years. When I graduated from college, I moved out away from the city and didn’t need my apartment anymore. Luckily for me, my buddy Peter was desperate to find a cheap place to live in the city. The apartment isn’t anything pretty, but it has everything you need for a one room apartment. A heating and cooling unit, stove, and bathroom. The only problem is that I still pay the monthly heating and cooling bills for the apartment. I don’t know why I agreed to do this, but at the time when we signed the contract it sounded like a good idea. He would pay me the rent, and I would pay a super low cost for the heating and cooling. However now it seems like as of late he has been running his heating and cooling system much more often than in the past, which is costing me a boat load of cash! I decided to ask him about it one day at dinner, and he told me the reason the heating and cooling is costing so much is because he decided to downgrade to an old school HVAC heating and cooling system. The reason he told was because he didn’t like the look of the one newer unit, it messed up the “look” of his apartment. Are you kidding me! This guy is costing me a crazy amount of money now because he didn’t like the look of his old heating and cooling unit! I love him as a friend, but we will be re negotiating our contract very soon. If he is unwilling to do so, then I am not afraid to call up my lawyer, even if he is one of my best buddies.
