I used to look forward to going Black Friday shopping with my mother-in-law and step-daughter every year. We’d get up super early, drive to the mall, and take advantage of all the deals. Living in the eastern space of the country, the weather in November is particularly unpredictable. Most often, the temperature would be in the thirties or forties. Sometimes there is snow on the ground. We’d be forced to dress up in warm sweaters, wool coats and Winter boots to endure the walk across the parking lot. Once inside the mall, we’d instantly beginning peeling off all of the extra layers as it is boiling hot. For some reason, every store is always overheated and stuffy. The mall overuses their commercial gas furnace, and the air is not only super tepid however it is also dry. We’d always get a shock off the metal racks because of the static. Carrying around heavy coats, sweaters and packages, and then waiting in long lines, was simply exhausting. My family and I have given up on our Black Friday tradition. The three of us now shop from home, completely online, and the packages are delivered right to our doors. Having control over the temperature control means we’re never too warm or too cold. There’s no need to bundle up in Winter gear or deal with the crowds. No matter what the weather brings, my gas furnace or air conditioning system maintains perfect comfort.
