Finals week is the pivotal moment of the semester in college. Most kids are quite good at procrastinating and then pulling off some clutch tests and papers, myself included. Being a school athlete, this is especially dangerous because not only are you balancing your schoolwork and your social life, but also your sports life. I was aware of finals for the last couple weeks, but I had been much more focused on the upcoming football season than I was on my schoolwork. Before I knew it, I had until midnight to knock out an 8 page paper, and i went to the school library and began working on the paper. Inside the library, the industrial air conditioner was keeping me very comfortable and cool. It was so much better than it was in the dorms. In the dorms the air conditioner was faulty and it was often hot and stuffy! While I was writing my paper, I began to slow down a bit several pages in and began to yawn and get drowsy. Before I knew it, I woke up with a start two hours later! The cool air coming from the air conditioner unit ducts had put me straight to sleep! I only had one hour left to turn in this paper now, and I still had two pages left to go. It felt as intense as a real life football game, I was so focused and determined to get that paper done. I ended up finishing and submitting that paper with just under two minutes to spare. I was so proud of myself. I’m not going to lie, as a reward for my hard work, I simply allowed myself to doze off on a nearby couch!.
