When I was building my website, I did a ton of advertising on facebook and twitter. I saw some traffic, but not nearly as much as I had prayed for. I didn’t get a single sale from any of the clicks and I had very few people who were interested in joining my mailing list. I had to dig deep to find out what I was doing wrong. Facebook is now offering unique types of advertising and it is based on a pay-per-click advertisement. I’ve acquired thousands of clicks, but only .5% of those people have interacted with my website. This is very sad news for me. When my kid started his Heating and Air Conditioning company, he was also advertising on facebook and twitter. He thought that if he would be able to let all of the ‘friends’ know, then he could get some Heating and Air Conditioning business from them. He was completely wrong. I have come to understand that facebook and twitter are now working on optimizing their advertising featuring so they can utilize targeted traffic to help their followers. However, it is sketchy and far from what is definitely needed. The traffic that is acquired is still coming largely from search engines. There is a better ROI (Return on Interest) when the leads come from these major search engines. My kid needs to do a lot of rethinking and get himself on the major search engines. Although it may cost more money overall, his Heating and Air Conditioning supplier will see current growth over time. As they say, you need to spend a good amount of money to make a good amount of money. This is great if you aren’t spending more than you are making.
