I have been with my wife since we were both freshmen in high school. It may be corny to marry your childhood sweetheart, but call it what you want it makes me very happy. Way back then, we always talked about the dream house we would get one day. Ever since we got married, four years ago, we have been scrimping and saving for that house. Well, we finally found a place that is everything we ever wanted. We have enough in the bank for a down payment, so I think this is really going to happen. The one big fly in the ointment is the HVAC system in the house. It is very old, and while it still is fine for cooling down the house, it is past its shelf life and soon to perish. If we spend everything we have on getting the place we may not have enough left over for the new HVAC system we need. It’s a real conundrum for me, because I very much love having climate control. My asthma has been so much better since we started using these HEPA air filters in our air conditioner. I don’t want to go back to poor air quality, not to mention the other problems that come with an old air conditioning system. Who knows how dirty those air vents are, or what birds have nested in the ductwork? I think we need to call an HVAC contractor to perform a full inspection on the system before we come to our final decision on buying this house.
