Since my apartment is so small, I don’t need a Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C system. Instead, I choose to keep a few space gas furnaces around for the winter season as well as rely on window a/c units for the summer. I was quite surprised when I recently had maintenance done on our window cooling system unit. I only need several window a/c units. I have three located in the kitchen, living room, and bedroom. The window cooling system equipment in our living room did not seem to be functioning well. It just seemed to be too overheated in there, no matter what I set the temperature control to. I had no idea what was wrong, so I called out an Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C worker to check on it! When she arrived as well as examined the window a/c equipment in our living room, what she had to say about its performance certainly surprised me. For one thing, I had not thought about the fact that the little bit of insulation around the edges of the AC equipment was not acceptable in keeping out overheated air from the outside of the window. Apparently, I needed to thoroughly weatherstrip around the a/c equipment to keep cool air from escaping and overheated air from coming inside… She also mentioned something that shocked me even more. I keep our computer tower right next to our window a/c in order to take advantage of the extra cooling that our computer gets from it. It turns out that the heat from the computer tower was sending misinformation to the temperature control on the window a/c that caused it to work harder than it needed to to cool the room! I would have never thought of such a thing!
