Getting a smart thermostat for my studio

When my kids moved out, the first thing I did was turn the upstairs living room into an art studio to make up for decades without artistic expression. For the last 18 years, I have been relegated to doing my painting in the garage, with bare floors as well as terrible lighting that left me uninspired. Now that the area is opened up, I am claiming it for my own! It’s so nice to have a respectable studio, after all this time. Nice as the room is, there are a few troubles I was not expecting. There is one concern in particular, which makes me suspect I may have to go back to painting in the garage. The roof itself must have really little insulation, because the upstairs is notorious for heating up so suddenly. By midday it feels as if the heating system has been running, but it is just the heat of the sun! We have a reliable cooling system, but to cool off the upstairs enough for my needs, the downstairs becomes an icebox. I called around to a few Heating & A/C dealerships, in an effort to learn more about smart control units that have zone control for the house. Basically, what happens is the smart control component monitors every room, adjusting the cooling settings based on which rooms are being used. With one of these installed for my central Heating & A/C system, I can cool down my studio without cooling the whole house down. For the first time, my painting studio will have the same great comfort that I adore throughout the rest of my house.
