I spent almost two decades of my life driving a cab. We call ourselves ‘hacks’, but I don’t really like that name. I used to run my cab all over town, and I’ve got to admit that I really loved my job. It was like being a vampire, because I only came out at . when everyone else was sleeping I was jockeying the night crowd, the late-night celebrators and the ravers. I had times when I was robbed and I even had some other events happen, but it was my job. After all those years, I decided it was time to do something for myself. I love driving, and the idea of working for myself was very appealing. I thought it was time to join the throng of Uber drivers. I knew it was important to have excellent heating and air conditioning when you were transporting other people. For me, I was happy to just open my windows and let the breeze cool me off. When you had the partiers that get in your cab, they are looking for air conditioning to cool their alcohol heated bodies. I needed to make sure the air conditioning was always blowing strong along with being cooling. When winter arrived, they wanted their heating, but it wasn’t quite as important for them. Most of them had partied so hard that the cool air felt good no matter what time of year it was. Since I had the required air conditioning and climate control, I had a lot of repeat riders. It was a lucrative business and I was finally working for myself.
