Investing in zone heating

My parents are constantly bickering about one thing: the oil heating and air conditioning  system. I remember hearing fights about the temperature control since I was a child. One parent thinks it’s too hot, while the other thinks it’s too cold.  It irritated my brothers and me to hear the same fight over and over again. My mother is consistently cold, so she would turn the oil furnace on, even if it was sixty degrees and sunny outside. But my father, on the other hand, overheated al the time, so he would turn the heat off during the middle of the winter season because he felt enjoy he couldn’t breathe. As you can imagine, these two extremes were strenuous to live in the same household–this has been going on for years.  Now that I am an adult and have moved out of the house, I don’t have to hear about this as often. I only encounter it when I visit my parents. Luckily, they have found a solution. My dad decided that after twenty years of arguing, he is going to replace the outdated oil furnace with a modern HVAC system and invest in additional HVAC zone controls. This will allow my parents to set each individual room to its own temperature, which will absolutely end the arguing. My mom was totally on board and even offered to pay the majority of the costs, since it would make her more comfortable.  The HVAC tune-up is scheduled to happen next week. I am really worried whether or not this is a permanent solution and if it’s well worth the financial investment. I am keeping my fingers crossed!
