Northern heating issues

I went down south about 7 years ago to get away from the bad Winters up North. It seemed as if the Winters were getting tough and as I was getting older, my body couldn’t take the cold anymore.  I also knew I wouldn’t be missing the hefty electric bills due to running my furnace to exhaustion. Well, I must say I was very wrong. When I planned this trip, I wasn’t thinking about what I was doing, just what I was leaving behind.  When I got to my new home I reveled in the warm beautiful weather there was at the time. I couldn’t believe I didn’t have to use my HVAC system and my wallet felt larger too. As the season went on, however, it started cooling down. It was cooler than I really thought it could get down in the South.  I ended up turning on my furnace in my apartment on for the first time since moving there. It wasn’t my first choice, but I was wrapped in clothes and blankets barely able to move due to the low temperature, so on went my furnace. I was shocked by how cold it was at the time. Everyone was wearing heavy jackets, sweatshirts, and sweaters running around trying to get into the warmth.out of the cold. I could see the stores were filled with customers trying to soak up the warmth from their heating systems, acting like it was below freezing here and it was 50 degrees. However, it was like the same cold where I came from.  Which totally threw me for a loop.
