Returning money to the HVAC contractor

A Couple of weeks ago, when it was time for our HVAC tune up , we ended up with a brand new worker that was not our usual. I will say the person really seemed anxious & nervous, & my spouse and I both thought it was because he was new, then the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worker spoke to us intermittently, while now working on the tune-up service, however at a single one point, the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worker took something out of his pocket, and that is when I saw a $20 bill fall to the ground. After an hour or 2, I pointed to the $20 bill & told the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worker that he dropped it. He looked at me puzzled and confused, & said it wasn’t his $20 bill. I was very and extremely strangely puzzled myself, because I saw him drop the $20. At this point, I did not know what to do. I tried to convince the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worker that the $20 bill has fallen from his pocket. I guess he thought I was setting him up, because he was steadfast in his assertion. I told the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worker that the money undoubtedly for real fell out of his pocket. He still did not believe me & refused to pick up the money. It was an actually odd exchange, however I managed to save $20 on my Heating, Ventilation, & A/C tune up appointment. I still wonder why the worker did not want to claim his $20 bill. It was very odd to me to say the very very least at all.
