I will have to admit, I was hesitant to get this smart thermostat for Christmas. My fiance was really excited for it, but I remained hesitant about it. This is because my fiance is a big tech junkie–he thinks every new thing is the best thing so we should just get rid of the older models as soon as possible. But I’ve seem too many of these new pieces of technology be too fragile or finicky, which means that we would be replacing it in the next few years or even less. In the end, he won me over with an extended warranty and the promise of big utility bill savings. What I found out after we had our expensive thermostat installed was that it did even more than I thought it could, and all for a lot less work. Unlike our old programmable thermostat, I didn’t need to spend hours inputting our schedules and making sure everything was set to our exact needs. The smart thermostat learns from us via the apps on our phones, so it knows when we get up, when we go to work, when we go to bed, and how we like the thermostat to be set during all of these portions of the day. Plus, it also allows us to control other aspects of the house. My fiance has had these fancy blinds that we can control our phones for two years, but like most things we forget about them entirely. But the smart thermostat puts them to work by adjusting them as the sun moves throughout the day. And my fiance was right, we are already saving a lot of money off our utility bill!
