I’ve always been friendly with my neighbors. We live in a neighborhood, where the houses are close to each other. It helps to be friends with the neighbors, so there are no disturbances. My wife and I bought our house about thirteen years ago, when we first got married. Now our oldest son is about to start driving. The neighbors who live next to us, moved into the neighborhood a few years ago. They keep to themselves, but I’ve seen them outside on a time or two. They usually say hello or wave to us. Last month we had a major snowstorm on our hands. The weather was in the single digits for two weeks in a row, and we had snow falling almost every single day. Around eight o’clock at night, I heard a loud knock on the door. It was the neighbor, who was having trouble with the furnace. He was trying to contact the local furnace repair service, but they weren’t answering the phone. He asked if we had any small heaters or space furnaces. Luckily, I keep two extra space heaters in the garage. In an emergency situation, these space heaters can certainly provide a great deal of warmth. I was happy to offer the space heaters to my neighbor. My wife suggested that we offer them a place to sleep. I agreed it was the right thing to do, and we asked them to stay for the night. They decided to stay home, but they were happy with the space heaters that we provided to them. I think they had the furnace fixed the following day.
